Ramallah Municipality’s international cooperation program is a strategic tool for advancing the city’s development priorities while strengthening its presence and voice on the global stage. Through partnerships with cities, institutions, diplomatic missions, and the Palestinian diaspora, the Municipality promotes Ramallah as a leading Palestinian city and a model of effective local governance, high-quality service delivery, and inclusive development. These partnerships enable the Municipality to share the challenges facing Palestinian local authorities under occupation, mobilize international support for national and developmental priorities, and build lasting connections between local and global actors. They also facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices, strengthen the capacities of municipal departments, and support sustainable initiatives aligned with national priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this integrated approach, the international cooperation department contributes directly to enhancing institutional performance and improving the quality of life for Ramallah’s residents.
As of May 2026, Ramallah has cooperation agreements and partnerships with nearly 50 cities worldwide, which have enabled the implementation of projects supporting local development in Ramallah, along with exchange programs that connect Ramallah’s institutions with similar bodies abroad. Each partnership offers unique avenues for collaboration and shared growth, contributing to Ramallah’s vision as a progressive, inclusive, and globally connected city.
