The Ramallah Municipality partnered with the Ministry of Education to allocate a 4-dunam plot of land for the creation of a public park. Situated across from the Orthodox Club of Ramallah, the land—owned by the Municipality and leased to the Ministry for Ramallah Secondary School—was chosen for its accessibility and central location. Designs for the park were prepared by students from the Faculty of Architecture at Birzeit University, offering a range of thoughtful proposals that incorporated essential park features. These designs were reviewed by the Municipal Council alongside representatives from the local community, ensuring a collaborative approach.
Yousef Qaddoura Park was inaugurated with the participation of Polish Representative Bogusław Ochodek, Deputy Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Hamdan Barghouti, and Ahmed Safran, Head of the Popular Committee for Qaddoura Refugee Camp. The unique park includes outdoor fitness equipment for adults and children, sports courts, a skate area, a basketball court, and a multipurpose hall for events like birthdays, workshops, and training sessions. It also features a cafeteria, restrooms, and locally manufactured recreational equipment.
The total cost of the park reached approximately 2.5 million shekels, funded primarily by the Municipality’s budget. Contributions included a donation from the Polish Representative Office for sports equipment, proceeds from the 2009 Children's Marathon, and support from local companies. Today, Yousef Qaddoura Park stands as a vibrant space for recreation, learning, and community bonding.
